Paul's third season - 2011

Paul and his dogs

The winter season gives Paul time to keep fit playing his other major sport, rugby, and relaxing with his dogs.

Yet before the race season has begun, his attention is back with the bikes.

Still riding his two Aprilia RS125 bikes, Paul started the 2011 season at the Croft circuit, near Darlington, home of the North East Motorcycle Racing Club. He began as he meant to continue, qualifying in pole position and winning all four of his races.

Making news

The season continued in like fashion, with a string of poles and wins at Croft, East Fortune and Knockhill circuits.

Paul makes sure the controls are just the way he likes them, and shows he is more than just the guy who sits on the bike.

By september Paul, now outgrowing the 125cc classes, began testing his Scottish Mini-Twin class Suzuki SV650 at the Knockhill circuit in Fife, qualifying it in 3rd place less than a second off pole position and finishing 3rd in his first race.

At the same meeting he set a new lap record for the F125 class of 1:01.435 (75.006 mph).

Walk Away...

Bored with winning races and well ahead in the championships, Paul tried to better the East Fortune lap record, but the bike just wasn't up to it and low-sided at the Railway Bend. Somtimes you can try too hard.

It was time to walk away from F125 with clear wins in the North East Motor Cycle Racing Club, Melville Motor Club, Knockhill and Scottish Championships.

But not empty-handed!

...and then some.

By the end of the season, Paul's collection of trophies was unrivalled and, as winner of the Knockhill championship, he met Niall & Tarran Mackenzie for a drive on Tarran's GP125
